What is Silk Burnout?
Silk burnout – often referred to as devore fabric – is created using a chemical burnout technique applied to blended two-layered fabrics. During this process, selected fibres are dissolved to create transparent or semi-transparent areas within the design, leaving behind raised patterns with contrasting texture and sheen.
The effect gives silk burnout its signature appearance: soft flowing silk combined with decorative motifs, sheer detailing and beautifully light movement.
Burnout silk creates texture within the fabric itself, adding depth and dimension to both colour and pattern.
